Textile artist Ann trained as an art historian at U.E.A. after a year at Leicester College of Art. She also completed City and Guilds Creative Embroidery Part 1. . Most of her work is small scale and highly detailed. It is predominantly figurative and three dimensional, using thread, textile and mixed media. She prefers to work with natural materials wool, silk and cotton, as well as various papers. She is continuing to explore the way in which these can be combined to create a medium where the richness of colour and texture inherent in textiles is joined to the structural and architectural qualities of paper. Her pieces explore and illustrate the complex and multi-layered elements present in myth, legend and poetry. |
