Textile artist 1927 - 2009 Anita's range of silk waistcoats, jackets and wall panels demonstrated her keen interest in naturally occuring colours and the tensions they produced. Her pieces were painted, dyed and printed, and then embroidered, resulting in a broad spectrum of vibrant hues and tones. One particular technique she used was Shibori, the Japanese art of resist dyeing. Anita studied at the Manchester School of Art, and also trained in Tailoring and Fashion Design. She was a founder member of TAGS and retained a lively interest and membership until she died. For many years the group met at her studio in Woodbridge, and the surroundings and beautiful gardens have given all much pleasure over the years. RIP |
