Beginners' Sampler Quilt - Supply List

9 evenings; 7 till 9:30O, plus homework..

We will make a Sampler Quilt, with six different types of blocks (2 variations of each) and set them together with sashings and borders to make a generous lap-sized or a small bed-quilt. If you want to make a bigger quilt you can repeat the blocks.

Please bring...
For the first class, bring your sewing machine, (with its manual and all the tools); some thread in a neutral colour (cream or light grey) (100% cotton rather than polyester), scissors, pins, and a notebook.

We will talk about choosing fabrics, and I will show you how to use the tools of the quilter - rotary cutter, mat and rulers; and the sewing machine.
In the first class I will help you to cut and make a simple block using my fabric, and give you a list of the supplies needed for the rest of the course. You will need to buy fabric, threads, batting (wadding) and backing for your quilt, but don't do this beforehand, please.

If you have a rotary cutter and a ruler, please bring them with you.

You will need to do some work at home, particularly when it comes to quilting your quilt, so please try to find a little space to do this.
