![]() | Teapot Quilters Beginners and Intermediate Class Introduction.. The Teapots meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month - if there is a 5th Tuesday we usually have an extra class...(PLEASE NOTE, this is dependent on my outside teaching schedule, so please check with me before you come) Class costs £6-50. We sometimes go out on expeditions, too. One class each month features a Project of the Month, for which a cutting list (or a kit) is provided in advance. Most students will make something with the blocks, some like to use 4 to make a cushion, or you can save them to make a bigger quilt eventually. The remainder of this class, and the classes in-between are for your own projects, and I will help with whatever you are doing at the time. You will not make good progress unless you do some sewing at home; it will take you a long time to do that hand-pieced king-size applique bedcover in 3 hours, once a fortnight... Seriously, though, I hope to be able to help you with any aspect of piecing, applique, and quilting and related skills. There is no general syllabus, and each student has to decide what they want to do. I have an extensive library of inspiring books, and you will get advice on buying fabric and tools, cutting, sewing, quilting and finishing your masterpiece...I personally like to do much of my work by machine, for speed and ease, but I can teach all the relevant hand-work skills. If you have not done any patchwork or quilting before, you may find it useful to spend your first class looking at books and magazines, playing with fabric, and looking at the sort of projects other students are engaged on. If you have a project in the cupboard (as so many of us do) languishing in an oh-my-what-now state, please bring it with you for advice and evaluation. You can also try tools, learn to use a rotary cutter and ruler safely, drink tea, and eat cake... The group is strictly limited to 12 students. If it is full you may ask to go on the waiting list - if this waiting list gets long enough I may open another class. As this is a sociable group and meets regularly, I like the existing students to decide whether they wish a newcomer to join - I do not wish to have clashes of personality within the class... I teach a schedule of project classes usually on other days or in the evening - please Click Here for the current programme.
